Tanning lotions are arguably the best path to take when one intends to achieve that bronze glow by the summer’s end. Apart from being easy to apply, it also economical especially when compared in contrast to tanning treatments that are way more expensive and dangerous to one’s well-being.

Tanning lotions are made up of substances that augment the effect of ultraviolet rays from the sun unto one’s skin. Furthermore, they also intensify the skin’s production of melanin, a substance in the body which is the one responsible for making the skin look tan.

Aside from hurrying the process of tanning, such lotions also helps in keeping the skin moisturized and free from dehydration. They are also helpful in preventing sun burn as they condition the skin for all the sunlight that it will receive.

As said earlier, lotions made for tanning are safe, with allergic reactions the only main issue that tanners should be concerned with. Before applying the tanning lotion all over the body, one should first apply a small amount in a small area of one’s skin to test if the lotion will have any adverse effect upon the user’s body.

When one is compatible with using the lotion (and it is highly unlikely that you will not be), then it is time for applying the lotion throughout the body. Before applying however, one should prepare the skin through cleansing, moisturizing and exfoliating. Taking a shower and then applying exfoliating products will eliminate the dead skin cells that will be an impediment in the tanning process.

After showering and exfoliating, it will then time for applying the tanning lotion. It is important that one applies the lotion before going out in the sun or before going in the tanning booth as the tanning lotion plays a crucial role in protecting the body from the harmful effects of the ultraviolet rays.

When applying the lotion, it is important to spread it evenly all across the body, with no spot having too much of the lotion or having too little to none as having unequal application of the tanning lotion will also result in unequal amount of UV rays that will affect the skin, thereby making some of one’s body parts more tan than the others.

As such, one should seek help in applying the tanning lotion on the back since it is near impossible to for one to do a perfect spread on one’s back all by one’s self. Applying tanning lotion unto the face is also important. However, one should use a different kind of lotion for the face, one that is milder and gentler since the skin on the face is much more delicate than in other body parts.

Tanning lotions are essential for the overall goal of a bronze-toned body by the end of the summer and as such, one who intends to tan should be knowledgeable of its use and importance.
